Delta State government says video of soldiers threatening to rape and infect women in Warri with HIV is fake 1

The Delta State Government has reacted to a video of soldiers threatening to rape and infect women in Warri with HIV.

The video was supposedly made by two soldiers who were threatening to carry out the act in retaliation of the attack soldiers suffered, after they killed a youth leader identified as Joseph Pessu for disobeying the lockdown order in the state.

The video was however described as “fake” in a statement released by the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu on behalf of the state government. He insisted that some disgruntled elements are bent on pitching the people against the State Government.

Aniagwu who stated that the video misrepresented the Nigerian military, added that the military command whose responsibility it was to deploy personnel had also debunked the video.

He said;

“Let me thank Deltans for their cooperation so far and urge them to discard the concocted videos aimed at causing disaffection between the military and Deltans.

“The concocted video clips were aimed at causing disaffection between Deltans and the security agencies carrying out lawful duties.

“While we appeal to our people to remain law-abiding, it is imperative to state that videos trending on social media are not a true reflection of happenings in the state.
