Why Moses Simon was substituted at halftime in Nantes’ loss at Rennes

The Nigerian forward has been the major outlet for Nantes this season but was surprisingly hauled off at halftime in their 1-0 loss against Rennes.

Nigerian forward Moses Simon watched the second half from the bench after being substituted at halftime because of an injury.

Moses was one of the best players on the pitch in the first 45 minutes with a 93 per cent pass accuracy and two accurate crosses.

However, It came as a surprise when the 26-year-old didn’t return with his teammates for the second half. But according to L’equipe, Simon was taken off to avoid aggravating a thigh injury.

Nantes felt his absence, as even after they conceded midway into the second half, they still struggled to conjure something in front of goal, managing no single shot on target.
