Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest, Taiwo Awoniyi, is set to become the next Victor Osimhen after he suffered a broken nose in his side’s FA Cup clash against Exeter City, 9JaUpDate247 reports.
The 27-year-old collided with the opposition goalkeeper after scoring his side’s second goal, receiving a punch to the head. He had to be stretchered off the pitch after suffering a concussion and a broken nose.
As a result, Awoniyi, just like Victor Osimhen, is set to start using a protection mask to shield his face from further damage.

Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, confirmed the former Mainz 05 striker will be out for about twelve days as the club have to make sure he’s safe to play again before returning him to action.
“He broke his nose so he is in pain. We are waiting for the right protocols to be followed, we have to wait and see if he is available because of concussion. We have to be careful. He looks OK. He smiled. He is in pain, but in these situations, we have to be careful. The right protocols, two or three days to settle down and we’ll see if he is available,” the former Tottenham Hotspur manager said in quotes revealed by Nottingham Post.

“He is looking at his mask because it has to be the right measurements. He is waiting on that, but more than anything at this time, we are waiting on the clearance of the concussion protocols so I am not sure whether he is going to be available or not. We have to wait,” the Portuguese gaffer concluded.
After suffering a concussion, Awoniyi will miss Forest’s Saturday’s trip to Alex Iwobi’s Fulham but could make his return in their heated clash next Sunday against Newcastle United.
Victor Osimhen started using a mask during his time at Napoli after suffering a nasty head injury that saw three screws fused into his head. In a bid to protect Awoniyi’s face he’s opted to follow the steps of his national talisman.
