Lagos state to experience 240-day rainfall – Official 1

The commissioner for environment and water resources in Lagos state, Tunji Bello has urged residents of Lagos state to prepare for likely consequences of 240 to 270 days rain.

Bello, a former secretary to the Lagos state government, said the rainfall is likely to begin on Thursday, March 19 and end on Sunday, November 22.

The commissioner made the disclosure while speaking to journalists on Tuesday, March 10.

The commissioner disclosed that the predictions of the agency were valuable, as vital weather and early warning tools for planners, decision-makers and operators of the various sectors and businesses that might be impacted by the annual rainfall if not well managed.

“Seasonal Rainfall Prediction is to allay fears of residents and prepare them ahead for the likely consequences of the rain,” Bello told reporters.

He said it is necessary to inform Lagosians about the 2020 rainfall prediction by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.
