Former Norwegian Eliteserien champions Molde have confirmed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga from Enyimba, 9JaUpDate247 reports.
Daga has enjoyed a remarkable rise in the last two years. The 18-year-old midfielder was one of the standout stars for Nigeria at the 2023 Under-20 FIFA World Cup, helping the team reach the quarterfinals, where they lost to South Korea on penalties.
After that competition, Daga went on to sign for Nigeria Premier Football League club Enyimba. There, he became an important member of the team, featuring for them 27 times in the league last season.
This season, he featured for them nine times. But at the turn of the year, there were speculations that he would leave the club. In fact, there were pictures showing the youngster at Molde’s training facility.
Those speculations have now been confirmed, as Molde have announced that they have signed Daga permanently.
The Flying Eagles star is expected to join the first team immediately and will likely play an important role for them.
The Norwegian Eliteserien is currently on break. Unlike other popular European leagues, it runs by the calendar year.

However, Molde are still in the UEFA Conference League. Hence, they are playing friendly games to stay fit. Their next game is on January 28 against Traeff, and Daga could make his debut.
Daga is a combative and solid defensive midfielder. His work rate and ability to protect the ball are among his best attributes, and he will look to improve at Molde.
Norway has proven to be a good ground for Nigerian players. Stars like Victor Boniface, Akor Adams and Gift Orban started their European journey in the Nordic country.
