The Greater Accra Regional Electoral Commission office located at Sapeiman near Amasaman on Friday, August 14, was reduced to ashes.
Sources have it that, the incident which happened at dawn around 2:30 am required about four water tenders from the Fire Service offices in Amasaman, Kotoku, Nsawam, and Abelemkpe to drench the fire.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the affected building was used by the Commission in archiving old and used items.
Mr. Kwame Amoah, the Greater Accra Regional Director of the Commission, in a conversation with the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Afful Boakye Yiadom was adamant that the fire outbreak would affect neither the recent voters’ registration nor the upcoming 2020 elections.

The Regional Police Commander with officers from the Greater Accra Police Division were present at the scene to provide security for the firefighters.
The fire was finally quenched around 5:00 am while the cause of the outbreak is yet to be unveiled.
