Chelsea Given A Major Boost As Hudson-Odoi Returns To Full Training 1

Chelsea winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi has handed a boost to manager Frank Lampard after returning to full training yesterday, reports standard.co.uk.

The 18-year-old has been sidelined after rupturing his Achilles tendon in April in the Europa League semi-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The England international had already begun light training 10 days ago ahead of his return from injury after four months out. But after missing pre-season under his new manager, Chelsea confirmed the highly-rated teenager is nearing his return after taking part in a full training session.

The club posted a tweet with the caption: “CALLUM!!!” accompanied by three images of the youngster in action.

Lampard revealed last week that the youngster was closing on a comeback from injury after training with the development squad.

“He’s getting closer,”

Lampard said.

“He’s trained the last week or two with the Under-23s and is looking good.

“There is going to be a period of conditioning work for him. The injury looks good, which is great news.”

Hudson-Odoi’s return will be a welcome boost for the Blues after failing to win either of their opening matches, following a heavy 4-0 defeat to Manchester United and a 1-1 draw with Leicester on Sunday.

The teenager scored four goals in all competitions last season under Maurizio Sarri but made just two substitute appearances in the Premier League.

He is, however, expected to play an important part under Lampard despite stalling over signing a new five-year contract worth £100,000-a-week to stay at Stamford Bridge.
