Brown Ideye: Did ex-West Brom star’s pep talk inspire Enyimba’s first NPFL win since October?

Enyimba International FC finally ended their winless run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Nasarawa United, 9JaUpDate247 reports.

The People’s Elephant had endured a challenging stretch of results since their last league win in October against Lagos-based club, Ikorodu FC.

Meanwhile, just after their recent victory against the Black Bulls in their Confederations Cup tournament, Ideye was spotted giving pep talks to the rest of the players to target greater victories.

The motivational input of the former West Bromwich Albion striker appears to have made a significant impact, as Enyimba produced an inspired performance.

Ideye himself played a decisive role, coming on as a substitute for Awaziem Ekene and netting the winning goal in the 63rd minute to secure victory for the hosts.

Following the match, Ideye expressed his gratitude to the fans on social media, writing: “Big thanks to you all for the support today.”

While it is difficult to measure the exact effect of Ideye’s words, his experience and leadership undoubtedly boosted team morale.
