White House invited Nigerian leader via statement on June 27, saying
that Barack Obama is looking forward to President Buhari’s visit, during
which both leaders will be discussing the threat of Boko Haram and how
to tackle insurgency.
Buhari is accompanying by a 33-man delegation, including his son Yusuf.
The visit has been seen as a seal on U.S improving ties with Nigeria since Buhari won the April presidential poll.
