247News: Enugu Police partner ministry over cult activities in schools 1
The Enugu State Police Command said it would partner with the state Ministry of Education to check the rising cases of cult activities among students in the area.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said the command’s continuous programme to eliminate cult activities would focus on post-primary and tertiary institutions.
Amaraizu said the command had segmented schools in order to carry out effective sensitisation to the need for students to shun cult activities and face their studies squarely.
“The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices is going to be a major programme to be executed by the command this year.
“We have started reaching out to the State Ministry of Education as well as school principals and various administrators of tertiary institutions in the state.
“And we believe with continuous sensitisation, the menace of cultism would be reduced and even eliminated in the state,’’ he said.
